Our long glaze firings are done in a 28 cu. ft. kiln, using propane gas from a 1000 gallon tank. During each firing we make burner adjustments to change the atmosphere of the kiln. As a result, the finished glazes take on an earthy, spontaneous character. We love the fact that no two pieces are ever exactly the same!
OCTOBER MEADOW is one of the original Hog-Shed Studio Pottery glaze patterns that we have been using since the 1980's. This satin matte glaze has a golden background with beautiful reddish brown, black and grey accents.
The surface colors can vary from yellow gold to copper gold depending upon the atmosphere of the kiln during each firing.
GYPSY BROOK is also one of our original glaze patterns. The neutral gray white satin matte surface has reddish brown, black and steel grey accents. Depending upon the atmosphere of the kiln during each firing, these accents can sometimes take on a yellow or even blue appearance, adding to the unique beauty of each piece.
Our ONEIDA OAK pattern has a glossy surface that can vary from a subtle peach to a lovely copper orange in color. Each piece is decorated with a signature oak leaf design. On some pieces we have embellished the glaze by sprinkling wood ash on the surface to create a striking earthy effect similar to wood fired pottery.
